Public Displays

Before we start...

The vehicles of the Spokane Motor Pool are all privately owned Historic Military Vehicles. Due to their unique nature, they are unlike other collectible civilian automobiles. When they were in active service, the rules and regulations that govern civilian vehicles may not have applied to them. By design, some of their safety features were reliant on the personal protective equipment worn by the servicemen and women who operated them (like wearing helmets and body armor). Because of this, we are very careful about how people interact with these vehicles, and it is up to the individual owner to set what limits and conditions they are willing to allow. As a general rule, however, is preferred that these vehicles not be touched without the permission of their owners.

Armaments

AT NO TIME WILL THE VEHICLES OF THE SPOKANE MOTOR POOL DISPLAY LIVE WEAPONS. ALL WEAPONS DISPLAYED ON OUR VEHICLES ARE NON-OPERATIONAL REPLICAS.

As military vehicles, these rigs may have carried weaponry during active service. Per the rules, regulations, and missions of the time, our vehicles may display weaponry appropriate to their period of service. Even though these weapon systems are inoperative, they should be treated as if they were real. The respective owners will closely supervise the handling of mounted weapon systems at their discretion. They have the final word, and their word is LAW.

To Be, or Not To Be... Armed.

Per the request of the owners of the venues where Spokane Motor Pool vehicles are displayed, we can present our vehicles in either an armed or unarmed status. This is important, should we display our vehicles at a school or other venues with zero-tolerance policies for weapons.

How To Request A Convoy

Our Event Committee plans our club appearances for the upcoming year's event season, typically during the winter. If you would like the Spokane Motor Pool to attend your event, please let us know by the end of the year.

Name of Event: What is the name of the Event?

Description of Event: Whatcha doin'?

Point of Contact: Name and phone number of contact person.

Date of Event: Self-explanatory.

Location: Venue Name and Physical Address.

Hours of Event: This lets us know when we should have our vehicles on site, parked, and ready for viewing.

Access/Egress: What route should we use to get onsite? What route to leave?

Roll-In: Should our vehicles "march on" in convoy, or pre-stage before the venue is opened to the public? Should we depart in convoy or wait until the event closes?

Staging Area: Where should our vehicles be parked? In what formation of positions?

Conditions: Should vehicles be armed or unarmed? (Please note: We do not mount weapons when traveling on public streets to and from event sites. We will, with permission, mount weapons for event-related routes (parades, roll-ons, etc.) When in doubt, we roll unarmed.)

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE REQUESTOR TO OBTAIN ANY REQUIRED PERMITS, PERMISSIONS, INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS, AND APPLICATION/REGISTRATION FORMS REQUIRED BY THE VENUE.

Send all requests to contact@spokanemotorpool.org..
